I made my annual Christmas pilgrimage to Chicago and had a great visit with my parents. They are doing well. One night while we were sitting around talking, a HUGE bright light flashed outside lighting the entire sky - at the same time the lights in the house flickered on and off. My mom and I looked at each other with eyes a mile wide and I know we were thinking the exact same thing. Our gaze lingered for at least 5 seconds as we were both COMPLETELY convinced that a UFO had crashed.

It was just a transformer explosion. We were disappointed.

While I was in Chicago, I also got to spend a whole day with my dear sister Kerry having much fun as usual. I finally got to see my brother, the first time since he found out he had neck cancer in May. It has been 7 agonizing months of chemo and radiation for the poor guy. But he has kicked cancer's ass (I've never met a stronger person), and looks FANTASTIC. He lost 36 pounds and all his hair, but his hair is back and he looks good all skinny. Just like when he was a teenager. It felt better than anything in the world to finally be able to hug him. I didn't want to let go.

We had a wonderful time at my dear friends Thomas and Tadd's annual Holiday Bash (above picture from a different bash). I can't believe how many people he can fit in such a little space. Much fun was had by all!

This month I got to splurge on a new dress and shoes for the Jujamcyn holiday party! It was an absolutely fantastic night - Jordan Roth really knows how to throw a party... There were lots of folks there from Elf, American Idiot, Jersey Boys and A Little Night Music, but my favorite was the cast of FELA! It was surreal to be eating finger food seemingly in the presence of Fela Kuti.

In case you didn't know, we had a blizzard here in NYC. This is a photo I snapped (Bedford Stuyvesant) - they aren't plowing much here. Sigh.

Yesterday, Aaron and I bought our tickets to Istanbul! I've been wanting to go here for most of my life. I cannot wait. I expect to see many scenes like this.
